Deadly floods sweep Kirkuk, Iraq, claiming life of one child
Many homes, schools, service institutions, and residents were affected by flood, official tells Anadolu

KIRKUK, Iraq / ISTANBUL (AA) - A deadly flood that followed heavy rains swept Iraq's Kirkuk province on Tuesday, killing one child.
Many homes, schools and service institutions, as well as residents of the subdistrict, were hit by the flood, Muhammad Veyis, head of the Leylan subdistrict, told Anadolu.
The child claimed by the flood was Biryar Isa, age 8, said Veyis.
After an extended search and rescue operation by firefighters, the child’s body was found about 5 kilometers (3.1 miles) away.
The Kirkuk Civil Defense Directorate and the Kirkuk Provincial Health Directorate declared a high-level state of alert and called all emergency teams to work extended hours.
