Death toll from Iraq ferryboat accident hits 105
Two more bodies pulled from Tigris River 20 kilometers south of Mosul

NINEVEH, Iraq (AA) – At least two more bodies have been pulled from the Tigris River, bringing the total death toll from last month’s ferryboat accident to 105, according to a local security sources.
“Two bodies, a man and a child, were recovered by residents of the Hamam al-Alil district located some 20 kilometers south of Mosul,” Fawzi Abdullah al-Shammari, a civil-defense official in Nineveh province (of which Mosul is the regional capital), told Anadolu Agency on Tuesday.
A total of 54 people still remain unaccounted for.
On March 21, a ferryboat carrying an estimated 170 passengers sank in the Tigris River near Mosul.
Nine people have so far been detained by the authorities in connection with the deadly incident.
