KARACHI, Pakistan (AA) - The death toll from flash floods caused by heavy rains in Afghanistan has risen to 35 in two days, with six more people killed and five injured in southern Helmand province, a local official said on Wednesday.

The recent flash floods swept through multiple regions in Helmand, including the Garashk, Sangin, Musa Qala, Nawzad, and Babaji districts, as well as the capital city Lashkar Gah, Provincial Director of Information and Culture Hafiz Abdul Bari Rashid told reporters.

Some 29 people were killed in rain-related incidents in adjacent Kandahar and Farah provinces. A total of 21 of them were from two families who died in flash floods in the western province of Farah.
