Death toll from Storm Daniel in Greece climbs to 4
Damage to infrastructure, property, crops, businesses incalculable, reports local media

ATHENS (AA) – The death toll from Storm Daniel which has been battering central regions of Greece since Tuesday climbed to four while six people still remain missing, local media reported on Thursday.
A livestock farmer was found dead in the village of Petroto Domokou, located north of the central city of Lamia, while six people in the Karditsa’s town of Agia Triada continue to be missing, public broadcaster ERT noted.
Meanwhile, some 200,000 inhabitants of the city of Volos have still no access to electricity and water on the third day as the state of emergency remains in effect in Magnesia, Sporades, Karditsa, and Trikala.
According to the broadcaster, which stressed that the damage to infrastructure, property, crops, and businesses is incalculable, the Greek Armed Forces are contributing to the rescue and relief efforts with transport boats, heavy trucks, heavy construction equipment, aerial vehicles, and search and rescue teams.
Speaking to the broadcaster, Fire Department’s spokesperson Giannis Artopios remarked that they are facing the most difficult times in their history.
On Wednesday, the body of an 85-year-old woman who had reportedly gone missing was recovered in the village of Paltsi, while an 82-year-old man was found dead later in the evening in Karditsa.
On Tuesday, an elderly man died as a result of a landslide caused by heavy rain in Volos.
