Demand for rainwater storage tanks increases due to drought concerns

About 100 tons of rainwater can be buried underground storage tanks, says Karmod Plastic Group manager

ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkish building manufacturer Karmod has announced that demands for rainwater storage tanks has increased due to concerns of drought.

Rainwater harvesting, which was previously on the agenda of public projects, has now started to be preferred in private-sector projects due to concerns about drought.

Talay Ozturk, the manager of Karmod Plastic Group, said that in the past year, the demand for rainwater harvesting storage tanks has significantly increased from various sectors such as mass housing projects, villas, and industrial facilities.

Ozturk emphasized that they can produce rainwater harvesting storage tanks from 10 tons to 100 tons in a single piece, and he mentioned that rainwater harvesting, a practice used for many years in European countries, has recently come on the agenda in Türkiye due to concerns about drought.

He noted that rainwater harvesting has been on the agenda in public projects from schools to hospitals for many years.

"Rainwater harvesting offers an important opportunity for businesses to store water without any cost. Water that would otherwise be wasted during rainfall is stored, providing extra contribution to businesses," he said.

Ozturk said rainwater harvesting, produced between 10,000 liters and 100 tons according to the needs of businesses or buildings, can be buried underground thanks to storage tanks.

"We use polyester raw material resistant to underground conditions in the production of our polyester rainwater storage tanks. Polyester rainwater tanks are used for many years without requiring any maintenance. They also have recyclable properties.

"We also build pump rooms for pumping water into our storage tanks. Maintenance chambers can be created underground according to the project. Drainage and filtration systems can be integrated into the tanks," he added.
