Denmark condemns Iran’s missile strikes in Iraq’s Erbil

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it launched ballistic missiles against positions of ‘anti-Iran terrorist groups,’ their backers in Syria, Iraq

COPENHAGEN, Denmark (AA) - Denmark on Tuesday condemned Iran’s attacks in the Iraqi city of Erbil and expressed condolences to the families of the victims.

“We oppose these reckless missile strikes that violate Iraq’s sovereignty,” the Foreign Ministry wrote on X.

Iraqi businessman Peshraw Dizayee and his daughter, Zhina, 1, were killed in an overnight missile attack.

He was a prominent figure in Erbil, known for spearheading significant projects in oil, technology and construction.

Dizayee gained recognition for completing the Empire World construction project in Erbil, which was highlighted by Iraq’s Kurdish Regional Government (KRG) President Nechirvan Barzani. Through his company, Falcon Group, he operated in various sectors, including construction, oil, natural gas, technology, agriculture, cosmetics and security.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said earlier it launched ballistic missiles against positions of "anti-Iran terrorist groups" and their backers in Syria and Iraq.

The IRGC claimed to have "destroyed" Israeli spy agency Mossad's headquarters in northern Iraq in response to its role “in martyring IRGC and resistance commanders” and planning terror attacks in Iran.

Germany also condemned the missile strikes and warned that the attacks would undermine stability in the region.

“We strongly condemn the irresponsible Iranian missile attacks in Erbil,” the Foreign Ministry said in a statement posted on social media. “They violate Iraq's territorial integrity and jeopardize the stability of the entire region.”
