Denmark supports EU call for unhindered humanitarian access to aid Gaza Strip population

More than 10,000 victims killed, including over 4,000 children, since start of Oct. 7 conflict

COPENHAGEN, Denmark (AA) - Denmark put its weight behind the EU’s demand Thursday for rapid, safe and unhindered humanitarian access to the Gaza Strip.

Minister for Development Cooperation and Global Climate Policy Dan Jannik Jorgensenat called for the establishment of humanitarian corridors and pauses at a Gaza aid conference hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron.

It wants “aid to reach those in need through necessary measures incl. humanitarian corridors & pauses,” the Foreign Ministry wrote on X.

The Danish government announced earlier a humanitarian support package to the Palestinian civilian population of 75 million Danish Krone ($10.6 million). The package brings total Danish humanitarian contribution to Palestine since the beginning of the conflict to 125 million krone ($17.9 million).

In Gaza, more than 10,000 civilians have been killed, with 4,000 being children, since the beginning of the Oct. 7 conflict.
