Denmark voices disapproval of President Trump’s remarks on Zelenskyy

COPENHAGEN, Denmark (AA) - Denmark Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen on Wednesday voiced her disapproval of US President Donald Trump’s criticism of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, calling it an unjustified "attack," state news outlet DR reported.

Frederiksen defended Zelenskyy, emphasizing his leadership and resilience as Ukraine's conflict with Russia continues.

"Zelenskyy is a democratically elected and extraordinarily capable political leader in Europe, who for almost three years has done something that I don't think anyone else could do: stood up not only for his own country and put his own life at risk, but every single day also fought for Europe's peace, freedom, and security, and thus also for the Americans," she said.

US President Donald Trump on Tuesday leveled sharp criticism at Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, saying he could have made a deal to avoid the war with Russia.

Speaking to reporters at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida, Trump said Kyiv "should have never started" the war, criticizing Zelenskyy after he expressed concern that Ukraine was not included in talks between the US and Russia in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Zelenskyy hit back on Wednesday, saying the US president was living in a Russian "space of disinformation."

In response, Trump called the Ukrainian leader a "dictator without elections" and warned that he “better move fast or he is not going to have a Country left.”

Trump, abolishing the US policy to isolate Russia, spoke to Putin last week and advanced Ukraine peace talks without the participation of Kyiv and other European governments.​​​​​​​
