PRAGUE, Czech Republic (AA) - Queen Mary of Denmark lost her balance after being hit earlier this month by an electric scooter during a royal engagement this week at Greenland, the New York Post reported Thursday.

The queen, 52, was interacting with fans and supporters in Nuuk alongside her children, Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine, when an elderly man crashed into the crowd with his scooter.

The Post suggested that the queen was left terrified after losing her balance. Security personnel detained the scooter driver.

The queen’s two children stood feet from the scene.

The Danish Royal Communications Office later announced that the queen was not injured.

The scooter driver said he was not sure what caused the vehicle to lose control.

Queen Mary was born Feb. 5, 1972, in Hobart, Tasmania. She was working as an advertising executive in Australia when she met then-34-year-old Frederik while out with friends at the Sydney's Slip Inn bar during the 2000 Summer Olympics.

She is the mother to four children -- Prince Christian, 18, who will one day succeed his father as king; Princess Isabella, 16, and twins Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine, 13.
