Detainees escape from prison in SDF-held area in Syria’s Aleppo amid escalation

ISTANBUL (AA) – Detainees escaped from a prison in an area controlled by the PKK/YPG terrorist groups operating under the name of the SDF in the northern Syrian city of Aleppo, amid escalation by the group in the area, the SANA news agency reported on Wednesday.

A Syrian security source told SANA that prisoners fled from a jail in the Al-Shaqif area, which is under SDF control.

He did not specify the number of escapees.

Separately, the Syrian Civil Defense said it evacuated 850 civilians from Aleppo as of 12:30 pm local time (09:30 GMT), citing deteriorating humanitarian conditions and shelling by the SDF.
