Fed interest rate at terminal level in current hiking cycle: Expert

ISTANBUL (AA) – The US Federal Reserve's interest rate reached its terminal level in its fight against inflation and the central bank is not expected to make any more rate hikes, according to an expert.

The terminal rate, the peak spot where the bank's federal funds rate is expected to climb before being trimmed, now stands at between the 5.25% - 5.5% target range after the Fed skipped an interest rate increase for the third time at the conclusion of a two-day meeting on Wednesday.

ISTANBUL (AA) – According to data from the UN Environment Program (UNEP), the fashion industry cuts down 159 million trees annually and uses 93 billion cubic meters of water.

Experts say damage the industry inflicts on natural resources is due to excessive consumption.

In the third and final part of the Sustainable Living series, which focuses on reducing the carbon footprint, an issue crucial to mitigating the climate crisis, published by Anadolu, the use of resources and carbon emissions in the fashion and textile industry was discussed.

Gaza Strip: World's deadliest place for children

The conflict between Israel and Palestine that has been ongoing since Oct. 7 continues with five children being killed every hour in the Gaza Strip.

Half of Gaza's population of 2.3 million consists of children, and the number of youths who were killed in the first three weeks has exceeded the global average of children killed in the past three years.

More than 40% of the 7,028 Palestinians killed in the conflict since Oct. 7 have been children, according to the World Health Organization (WHO) data.
