PALESTINE

Gaza City – Latest humanitarian and military developments in the Gaza Strip as Israel’s military offensive, which has so far killed over 28,000 people and injured 67,611 others since Oct. 7, continues. The Israeli army also plans to advance southward towards Rafah amid international and regional concerns of worsening the already dire humanitarian conditions in the enclave.

Ramallah – Israel's daily military raids in cities and towns of West Bank. Its actions in the occupied territory since the start of the war in Gaza have led to the killing of at least 388 Palestinians and the injury of around 4,450 others. The number of arrests has risen to record 6,940.


LEBANON

Beirut – Cross-border fire between Hezbollah and Israeli forces along shared border. Tensions since the latest conflict in Gaza have so far killed nearly 210 people, including 30 civilians, and displaced nearly 100,000.


ISRAEL

Tel Aviv – Israeli response to Hamas proposal on cease-fire deal, which includes a 3-stage plan, each lasting 45 days during which military operations would be completely halted on both sides and prisoners and remains would be exchanged.

Islamabad - As final election results near conclusion, independent candidates backed by former Prime Imran Khan are ahead of others. His party has called for protests, and mounted legal challenges over results it alleges were manipulated. While the former prime minister claims to have numbers to form the government, two other main parties advance talks to form a governing coalition.


FINLAND

Helsinki - Finns to head to polls for second round of presidential election. Runoff takes place between former Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto and former Prime Minister Alexander Stubb.

ISTANBUL (AA) ­­- Defending champions Kansas City Chiefs will meet the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII on Sunday to decide who will take home the Vince Lombardi Trophy from the National Football League (NFL).

The game at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas will see a rematch between the two teams who faced off in 2020 when the Chiefs won Super Bowl LIV 31 - 20 for their first title in 50 years.

The 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) hosts and finalists Ivory Coast experienced a roller-coaster ride during the tournament as football fans are wondering if the team from West Africa can win the title on Sunday.

The Ivory Coast, one of the leading football nations in Africa, were on the brink of a humiliating group stage exit but miraculously survived.

Called the Elephants, Ivory Coast were in the same group as Equatorial Guinea, Nigeria and Guinea-Bissau.
