Dow closes at new record for 6th day, Nasdaq ends worst session since late 2022
Blue-chip Dow rises 0.59%, tech-heavy Nasdaq dives 2.77%; VIX jumps 9.8%

ISTANBUL (AA) - The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at a fresh record high Wednesday, but the Nasdaq had its worst daily session since late 2022.
The Dow, which includes 30 prominent American companies, rose 243 points, or 0.59%, to end the day at 41,198. The blue-chip index closed at a record-high level for the sixth consecutive trading day.
The index climbed to a fresh all-time high of 41,221.98 points during trading hours.
The S&P 500, on the other hand, fell almost 79 points, or 1.39%, to close at 5,588.
The Nasdaq plummeted 512 points, or 2.77%, to finish the day at nearly 17,997. It was the worst daily performance for the tech-heavy index since December 2022.
Among tech companies, Uber and Nvidia saw their shares diving 7.6% and 6.6%, respectively, while Meta Platforms plummeted 5.66%. Amazon and Apple fell more than 2.5% each.
The VIX volatility index, also known as the fear index, jumped 9.8% to 14.48. The 10-year US Treasury yield rose 0.41% to 4.160%.
The dollar index decreased 0.5% to 103.75, while the euro was nearly flat at $1.0939 against the greenback.
Precious metals were on the rise, with gold adding just 0.02% to $2,459 per ounce and silver increasing 0.2% to $30.37.
Oil prices were up only 0.02%, with global benchmark Brent crude at $85.20 a barrel and US benchmark West Texas Intermediate at $81.64.
