Dow Jones closes with gains while S&P, Nasdaq finish lower
Precious metals reverse course to turn green, oil prices extend losses

ISTANBUL (AA) - The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed higher Tuesday, but the S&P 500 and Nasdaq finished the session in the red.
The blue-chip Dow rose 104.40 points, or 0.31%, to end the day at 33,733.96.
The S&P 500 lost almost 3 points, or 0.07% to close at 4,016.95 and the Nasdaq fell 30.14 points, or 0.27%, to 11,334.27.
All three indexes rallied Monday to close at their highest levels in a month.
The VIX volatility index, also known as the fear index, dove 3.4% to 19.14, while the 10-year US Treasury yield fell 1.9% to 3.456%.
The dollar index fell 0.2% to 101.95, while the euro rose 0.13% to $1.0882 against the greenback.
Precious metals reversed course and turned green, with gold rising 0.3% to $1,937 per ounce and silver adding 0.9% to $23.66.
Crude oil prices, on the other hand, extended their losses, with global benchmark Brent crude losing 2.2% to $86.23 per barrel and US benchmark West Texas Intermediate crude at $80.14, down 1.8% for the day.
