Dow Jones, S&P 500 post 3rd consecutive weekly gains
VIX volatility plummets 7.4%, while Dow rises 0.7% this week, S&P gains 1%

ISTANBUL (AA) - The Dow Jones and the S&P 500 closed Friday higher, posting their third consecutive weekly gains.
The Dow was up 176 points, or 0.5%, to finish at 35,459. The blue-chip index rose 0.7% this week, while it ended its 13-day winning streak on Thursday -- its longest since January 1987.
The S&P 500 added 44 points, or 0.99%, to end the session at 4,582. For the week, the index increased 1%.
The Nasdaq jumped 266 points, or 1.9%, to close the day at 14,316. The tech-heavy index had a weekly gain of 2%.
The VIX volatility index, also known as the fear index, plummeted 7.4% to 13.33. The 10-year US Treasury yield, meanwhile, fell 1.3% to 3.961%.
The dollar index decreased 0.1% to 101.63, while the euro rose 0.4% to $1.1022 against the greenback.
Precious metals were in positive territory, with gold adding 0.7% to $1,959 per ounce and silver rising 0.8% to $24.33.
Oil prices were up around 0.5%, with global benchmark Brent crude at $84.33 per barrel and US benchmark West Texas Intermediate at $80.49.
