Dow jumps 1.51% to best daily performance of 2024

ISTANBUL (AA) - The Dow Jones jumped 1.51% on Friday to its best daily performance of 2024.

The blue-chip index added 574 points to finish the last trading day of the week at 38,686. The index, however, posted a 0.98% weekly loss -- its second consecutive week of declines.

The S&P 500 increased 42 points, or 0.8%, to end the session at 5,277 but it had a weekly loss of 0.51%.

The Nasdaq declined 2.06 points, or 0.01%, to finish flat at 16,735. The tech-heavy index recorded a 1.1& weekly decline.

The S&P 500 and the Nasdaq ended their weekly winning streaks that lasted five consecutive weeks.
