Dozens of MPs call on UK government to halt all military exports to Israel
MPs hail UN's Sept. 18 resolution to end unlawful presence in Occupied Palestinian Territory, urge government to act in support of UN resolution, ICJ opinion, such as banning imports from illegal Israeli settlements

LONDON (AA) – Nearly 50 British lawmakers welcomed the UN’s Sept. 18 resolution calling on Israel to rapidly end its unlawful presence in the Occupied Palestinian Territory (OPT), and urged their government to halt all military exports to Israel.
In an early motion moved by independent MPs Richard Burgeon, Imran Hussain, Zarah Sultana, and Labour Party MPs Andy McDonald, Diane Abbott, and Bell Riberio-Addy said the adoption of the UN resolution imposes new obligations on the government.
"... and calls on the Government to act in support of the UN resolution and (International Court of Justice) ICJ opinion, including by ending all military exports to Israel, banning the import of goods from illegal Israeli settlements and revoking the 2030 Roadmap which deepens UK economic, trade and security ties with Israel."
The MPs also welcomed the UN resolution’s calls on states to comply with their obligations under international law and take concrete steps to address Israel’s unlawful presence in the OPT.
As of Tuesday morning, the motion had been signed by 47 lawmakers from the Labour Party, Social Democratic & Labour Party, Liberal Democrat, Green Party, Scottish National Party, Plaid Cymru, and Alliance Party, as well as 12 independent MPs.
"As the horrors in Gaza and the West Bank continue, the UK Government must back the UN at this key moment," Hussain, who is among six MPs, moved the motion wrote on X.
