Eagles compilation album becomes best-selling in US history

ISTANBUL (AA) - The rock band the Eagles 1976 compilation album, Their Greatest Hits 1971-1975, has become the best-selling album in US history, surpassing 40 million units, according to the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

The band’s 1976 album, “Hotel California,” was also certified 28 times platinum on Thursday, retaining its status as the third best-selling album in the US.​​​​​​​

Originally released nearly 50 years ago on Feb. 17, 1976, Their Greatest Hits 1971–1975 is being reissued in a crystal-clear, 180-gram vinyl edition to mark its anniversary and new RIAA certification.

Formed in Los Angeles in the early 1970s, the band blended rock and country to create enduring hits such as Hotel California and Take It Easy.
