NAIROBI, Kenya (AA) - Efforts to recover more victims of an alleged serial killer intensified in Nairobi on Tuesday, a day after police arrested a 33-year-old man who confessed to the murder of 42 women since 2022.

“Upon his arrest, the suspect led officers to his single-room rented house in Kware, which is located about 100 meters from the crime scene where the bodies and body parts have been recovered,” police said in a statement.

During interrogation, Khalusha confessed to the murders, claiming he lured, killed, and disposed of 42 female bodies at the dumping site, all murdered from 2022 till this July.

His first victim was allegedly his wife, Imelda Judith Khalenya, whom he strangled and dismembered before disposing of her body at the site. He admitted to similarly murdering all his victims.

The suspect, Jumaisi Khalusha, is expected to appear in court on Tuesday to face charges related to the gruesome discoveries at the Mukuru dumpsite.

This development comes in the wake of intense public outrage and calls for justice after the discovery of dismembered bodies at the Kware dumpsite in Mukuru slums, Nairobi.

The bodies, found in nylon sacks, raised fears among netizens that they were victims of police extrajudicial killings, especially as some missing protesters remain unaccounted for.

Community leaders and residents are expressing their grief and anger, demanding increased security measures.
