LONDON (AA) - Temperatures in the UK are expected to soar to 32C (89.6F) in the country’s southeast regions, said Britain's national weather service on Monday.
The UK Health Security Agency issued a yellow alert for all regions except for northeastern England after the warning from the UK's Meteorological Office.
"High pressure is situated southeast of the UK, bringing more settled conditions with temperatures rising through the first half of this week," said Met Office Deputy Chief Meteorologist Mark Sidaway.
“While the highest temperatures are expected in the south, heatwave conditions are likely across much of England and Wales especially, with parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland also likely to see some unseasonably high temperatures.”
The office said temperatures will be up to 4C hotter than the Spanish island of Ibiza, a Mediterranean getaway thousands of kilometers south of Britain.
The statement added that the highest minimum temperature recorded overnight for September is 21.7C (71.06F) but that this record is expected to change on Wednesday and Thursday.
