GENEVA (AA) - The European Council on Friday announced the inclusion of the US-based neo-Nazi movement The Base to the bloc's terrorist list.
Describing The Base is an organization, which was founded by Rinaldo Nazzaro in 2018, as "right-wing extremists involved in terrorist acts," the council said in a statement that the sanctions are effective as of Friday.
According to the Council, The Base is subject to "the freezing of its funds and other financial assets or economic resources in EU member states."
EU operators are also prohibited from making funds and economic resources available to the organization.
The council also renewed the list of persons, groups, and entities subject to restrictive measures to combat terrorism by delisting one deceased person and maintaining the rest unchanged.
There are currently 15 persons and 22 groups and entities subject to the restrictive measures in force.
