Germany hosts 1.1M Ukrainians under temporary protection, most among EU states

ISTANBUL (AA) - Some 4.1 million non-EU citizens from Ukraine had temporary protection in the EU at the end of July, Eurostat said Tuesday.
Germany hosted 1.1 million of those who fled war in Ukraine at the end of July, making up 26.9% of the EU total, while Poland received 10,400 Ukrainians, and Czechia 369,600, according to the regional statistical bureau.
The number of Ukrainians under temporary protection grew 1.1% in Poland, 2.4% in Czechia and 2.6% in Romania, while it fell 11% in Luxembourg and 0.8% in France.
In Germany, 236,900 Ukrainians’ temporary protection was no longer valid or they left the country by the end of July, as the number of those under temporary protection fell 17.6% month-on-month.
The highest ratio of people under temporary protection was seen in Czechia at 33.9 per 1,000 people, followed by Lithuania at 27.4, and Poland at 26.7. The ratio in the EU was at 9.2.
Ukrainians made up 98% of people under the EU’s temporary protection at the end of July, 45.3% and 22.4% of which were women and men, respectively, while the number of children accounted for 32.4%.
