EU sets up civilian mission to strengthen Moldova’s security

LONDON (AA) - The EU on Monday announced that it has set up a civilian mission to strengthen Moldova’s security.

"The efforts to destabilize the Republic of Moldova have noticeably increased since the beginning of the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine, and represent a direct threat to the stability and security of the external borders of the EU," a statement from the Council of the EU said.

EU Partnership Mission in Moldova (EUPM Moldova) formally established on April 24, 2023, at the request of Moldovan authorities, aims to contribute to the strengthening of the country's crisis management structures, enhancing its “resilience to hybrid threats, including cyber security, and countering foreign information manipulation and intervention,” the statement said.
