ANKARA (AA) - The EU commercial vehicle market continued narrowing for the seventh month in a row in January, a sectoral group announced Thursday.
New commercial vehicle registrations across the 27-member bloc decreased 11% year-on-year to 125,292 units this January, according to the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA).
The decrease was stemmed from a fall in new van sales, as it accounted for nearly 80% of total commercial vehicle sales in the EU.
The EU's demand for vans – light commercial vehicles – decreased 14.2% to 99,461 last month.
Among four major markets in the bloc, Spain saw the sharpest decline in commercial vehicle registrations with 20%, compared to the same month of last year. France and Germany posted 17.0% and 3.1% decreases, respectively, in January.
In Italy, sales levels remained unchanged compared to January 2021.
