European Parliament's Palestine delegation chair urges governments to listen to their people
Manu Pineda encourages more boycotts, demonstrations, university encampments to pressure governments
By Muhammed Yasin Gungor
ISTANBUL (AA) - Manu Pineda, European Parliament's Palestine delegation chair, urged governments on Friday to heed the voices of their constituents, emphasizing the widespread outcry on the streets.
Calling for a decisive break with the Israeli genocidal regime, Pineda emphasized global mobilization against Israeli actions as he spoke at a university campus in Madrid, where people are protesting an Israeli genocide, catastrophe and massacre in Gaza.
He called the invasion of Rafah the latest example of the ongoing extermination of the Palestinian people in Gaza, and said the consequences of a land invasion in Rafah are "unforeseeable."
"We have to mobilize so governments listen to us and break all kinds of relationships with Israel, stop the arms trade, bring these criminals to court and put them in jail," said Pineda.
"Let's go for more -- more boycotts, more demonstrations, more university camps."
Expressing that US campuses are inspiring the world, UN Special Rapporteur on Palestine Francesca Albanese said: "The call for justice and freedom is contagious," quoting Pineda.
Stating she lives in an Arab country, Albanese added: "Here, people are in awe with how students in US campuses are standing against injustice, with courage and pride, to save Palestinians from the most horrific of the crimes."
