European stock exchanges close higher except in UK

Spain's IBEX 35 performs best, rising 0.61%; UK's FTSE 100 loses 0.17%

ISTANBUL (AA) - European stocks closed higher Wednesday except in the UK.

The STOXX Europe 600, which includes around 90% of the market capitalization of the European market in 17 countries, was up 1.39 points, or 0.3%, to finish at 457.24.

Germany's DAX 30 rose 57 points, or 0.36%, to close at 15,957, while France's CAC 40 increased 31 points, or 0.43%, to end the session at 7,260.

Spain's IBEX 35 was the best performer of the day, rising 59 points, or 0.61%, to end the day at 9,887.

Italy's FTSE MIB, meanwhile, increased 1.49 points, or 0.01%, to end flat at 29,154.

The UK's FTSE 100, on the other hand, shed 12 points, or 0.17%, to close at 7,469.
