European stock exchanges close with gains

ISTANBUL (AA) — European stock exchanges closed Wednesday with gains.

The STOXX Europe 600, which includes around 90% of the market capitalization of European markets in 17 countries, was up 4.18 points, or 0.81%, to close at 521.23.

The UK's FTSE 100 rose 14 points, or 0.18%, to finish the session at 8,246, while Spain's IBEX 35 gained 66 points, or 0.59%, to end the day at 11,353.

Germany’s DAX was the best performer of the day, soaring 170 points, or 0.93%, to close at almost 18,576.

France's CAC 40 gained 68 points, or 0.87%, to end the session at 8,006.

Italy's FTSE MIB added 231 points, or 0.68%, to hit 34,507 by the closing bell.
