European stock exchanges close with losses

France's CAC performs worst, diving 1.19%; 3 exchanges lose around 1%

ISTANBUL (AA) - Stock exchanges in Europe closed Monday with losses.

The STOXX Europe 600, which includes around 90% of the market capitalization of the European market in 17 countries, fell 5.35 points, or 1.02%, to close at 518.73.

The UK's FTSE 100 shed almost 70 points, or 0.85%, to end the day at nearly 8,183. Germany's DAX also trimmed 157 points, or 0.84%, to 18,590.

France's CAC 40 was the worst performer of the day, diving 91 points, or 1.19%, to wrap the session up at 7,632.

Italy's FTSE MIB, meanwhile, fell 204 points, or 0.59%, to finish the day at 34,372.

Spain's IBEX 35 decreased 107 points, or 0.96%, to close at 11,143.
