European stocks close higher except in UK, Spain

ISTANBUL (AA) - European stocks closed higher Monday, except in the UK and Spain.

The STOXX Europe 600, which includes around 90% of the market capitalization of the European market in 17 countries, rose 0.44 points, or 0.09%, to finish almost flat at 511.49.

France's CAC 40 was the best performer of the day, adding 68 points, or 0.91%, to 7,571.

Germany's DAX gained 66 points, or 0.37%, to 18,068. Italy's FTSE MIB added 242 points, or 0.74%, to end the day at 32,908.

The UK's FTSE 100, on the other hand, fell 4.71 points, or 0.06%, to finish the session at 8,142.

Spain's IBEX 35, meanwhile, was off 32 points, or 0.3%, to close at 10,959.
