Ex-husband of Jill Biden charged with murder of his current wife

William Stevenson, the ex-husband of former first lady Jill Biden, has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of his wife, according to media reports.

Stevenson, 77, was arrested Monday in connection with the killing of 64-year-old Linda Stevenson, NBC News reported, citing New Castle County police.

Officers were called to a Wilmington-area home in late December for a reported domestic incident, where Linda Stevenson was found unresponsive. She later died, and her body was sent for an autopsy. Authorities have not publicly disclosed the cause of death, NBC News said.

Police said the indictment followed weeks of investigation. Stevenson remains jailed at the Howard Young Correctional Institution after failing to post $500,000 cash bail. Court records did not indicate whether he has legal representation.

A spokesperson for former President Joe Biden and Jill Biden did not respond to a request for comment, according to NBC News.

Stevenson was married to Jill Tracy Jacobs in the early 1970s. The marriage ended in divorce in 1975, shortly before she met Biden.
