Fiji's former Prime Minister Frank Bainimarama along with two ex-ministers were arrested on Tuesday over allegations of abuse of power during their time in government, Fiji One News reported.
Besides Bainimarama, police took into custody former Health Minister Neil Sharma and former Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum.
The three men were taken into custody for questioning and were later charged over the alleged offences in a case related to a tender bid for hospital engineering services. They will spend the night in police custody and face court in Suva on Wednesday.
Bainimarama, a former coup leader, ruled the country for 16 years before he was ousted from power in the 2022 election.
