Flights ‘gradually improving’ at New Delhi airport after technical glitch delayed travelers

One day after a technical glitch at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) in New Delhi disrupted hundreds of flights at India’s busiest airport, authorities said Saturday that the issue is "gradually improving."

“Airline operations at Delhi Airport are returning to normal, and all concerned authorities are working diligently to minimize any inconvenience caused,” the airport wrote on US social media company X about the “technical issue” that affected the Automatic Message Switching System (AMSS) that supports the Air Traffic Control flight planning process. “Passengers are advised to stay in touch with their airlines for latest flight update.”

Around 800 domestic and international flights were delayed since the glitch early Friday, which also delayed flights at the airports around the country.

Late Friday, the Airports Authority of India said: “Due to some backlogs, there may be some delays in the normal functioning of automated operations, but the situation will be normal soon.”
