LONDON (AA) - Paul Doyle was sentenced Tuesday to 21 years and six months in prison after driving into a crowd at Liverpool FC's Premier League victory parade in May.

Judge Andrew Menary sentenced Doyle, 54, for ploughing his car into a dense crowd of supporters, injuring more than 130 victims.

Doyle "drove over limbs and crushed prams" and "intended to hurt anyone who got in your way - even children," the judge was quoted by the BBC.

He also acknowledged Doyle's previous convictions, including "biting off a sailor's ear" as a young man, but said it would not increase his sentence because he had "turned his life around" and not reoffended for 32 years until the Liverpool attack.

The former Royal Marine pleaded guilty last month to all 31 charges.

He was arrested after he drove into the crowd celebrating Liverpool Football Club's 2024–25 Premier League title win May 26.
