French president accused of breaching royal protocol after touching Belgian king

LONDON (AA) - French President Emmanuel Macron was again accused of breaking royal protocol after touching the Belgian king.

Controversy sparked after Macron touched the arm of King Philippe during a handshake late Wednesday.

It occurred during an event hosted by Philippe that brought together EU leaders who are attending an EU summit.

Some users shared posts on social media that criticized Macron that said, "He thinks he is a friend of the king?"

The French president also faced criticism in September for touching the arm of Britain's King Charles.
