French, Sierra Leone presidents discuss security issues in Sahel, regional stability
Emmanuel Macron, Julius Maada Bio agree to enhance cooperation in security, health care, education, renewable energy

ANKARA (AA) – French President Emmanuel Macron met with his Sierra Leonean counterpart Julius Maada Bio and discussed security issues in the Sahel region, according to an official statement.
In the statement released by the Elysee Palace following their meeting on Wednesday, Macron hosted his Sierra Leonean counterpart Bio in Paris.
During the meeting, the two leaders discussed the security situation and regional stability in the Sahel, with a focus on Niger and Guinea.
The leaders also agreed to enhance cooperation in security, health care, education, and renewable energy.
The Sahel region in West Africa begins in Senegal on the Atlantic Ocean coast and extends through Mauritania, Mali, Burkina Faso, Niger, and Chad, and ends in Sudan, which borders the Red Sea.
