French-Swiss firm admits 'unacceptable errors' in Syria
After ex-executives charged with indirectly financing Daesh, LafargeHolcim chair says company pulled out of Syria too late
By Yusuf Ozcan
ANKARA (AA) – The Swiss-French cement company LafargeHolcim pulled out of Syria too late and made “unacceptable errors,” its chairman said in an interview with a French daily.
Speaking to Le Figaro, Beat Hess said that the firm made “unacceptable errors” which the group regrets and condemns.
The group pulled out of Syria too late and that could have been avoided, Hess added, in the interview published on Sunday.
His remarks came after three former company executives were charged in France with indirectly financing Daesh.
They were accused of paying the terrorist group to keep one of the company’s factories operating in northern Syria.
