GAZA CITY, Palestine (AA) - A Palestinian father has named his three newborn triplets "Quds", "Asima” and “Filistin” -- meaning “Jerusalem”, “Capital” and “Palestine” in Arabic -- as a means of protesting the U.S. decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.
“I chose my children’s names to emphasize Jerusalem’s Palestinian, Arab and Muslim character,” Nidal al-Siqli, 30, told Anadolu Agency by phone from the Gaza Strip’s city of Khan Yunis.
Jerusalem, the proud father asserted, “is and forever will be the eternal capital of Palestine".
Quds and Filistin are both boys, while Asima (a feminine word in Arabic) is a girl. All three were born on Thursday.
Al-Siqli and his wife hope to eventually have a fourth child, who he plans to name “Abadiyyah” -- Arabic for “eternal”.
On Dec. 6, U.S. President Donald Trump announced his decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, sparking widespread condemnation and protest from across the Arab and Muslim world.
