ISTANBUL (AA) - Georgia announced that it has developed an action plan for the country in case of any possible nuclear threats, local media reports said on Friday.

“Nuclear threat is a valid question. The population of Georgia is slowly understanding the importance of this issue,” Grigol Liluashvili, the head of Georgia’s State Security Service (SUS), told a press briefing in Tbilisi, according to Georgian television channel 1TV.

Liluashvili highlighted that current challenges in the region do not rule out the possibility of nuclear weapons use.

“We must be smart, conduct a moderate, pragmatic policy, both inside and outside the country,” Liluashvili was quoted as saying. He confirmed that an action plan has been developed and approved.

Furthermore, Liluashvili mentioned that the plan was collaboratively created with the involvement of the government, relevant agencies, and the SUS.

He added that the country's Health Ministry has outlined measures, including the prescription of medicines, their distribution to the population, treatment protocols, and an emergency support scheme.
