German economy fails to post annual growth for 9th straight quarter
German economy in Q1 contracted 0.2% year-on-year

ISTANBUL (AA) - Germany has failed for the past nine quarters to post annual growth, according to official figures from the federal statistical authority Destatis.
Destatis announced on Wednesday that the country's economy shrank 0.2% year-on-year this January-March, according to provisional data.
The last time the German economy grew was in the last quarter of 2022, by 0.3%.
Since the first quarter of 2023, the German economy has seen eight declines, while it posted no change in the second quarter of 2024.
The country's economy enlarged slightly, by 0.2%, in the first quarter of 2025, but on a quarterly basis, not an annual one.
