German GDP rises 0.3% in Q4 2025
German economy expands 0.3% in last quarter of 2025 and 0.2% in whole year

ISTANBUL (AA) - The German economy grew by 0.3% in the fourth quarter of 2025 compared to the previous three-month period, according to data released by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) on Wednesday.
The quarterly expansion followed a flat performance in the third quarter, confirming that the year ended with a slight upward trend.
Final consumption expenditure played a major role in the growth, rising by 0.7% on the quarter.
Government spending saw a stronger increase of 1.1%, while private household consumption grew by 0.5% during the October-December period.
Capital formation in the construction sector also boosted the economy with a significant 1.6% rise.
Manufacturing value added remained unchanged from the previous quarter, as gains in electrical equipment were offset by declines in the chemical industry.
Foreign trade did not contribute to growth in the final quarter, with total exports falling by 0.6% and imports decreasing by 0.3%.
The construction industry recorded its best quarter-on-quarter performance with 1.7% growth in gross value added.
On a year-on-year basis, the fourth quarter GDP was up by 0.6% compared to the same period in 2024.
For the full year 2025, the German economy grew by 0.2%, or 0.3% when adjusted for calendar effects.
