Germany announces 10-point plan to boost economy

BERLIN (AA) – The German government announced a 10-point plan on Tuesday to pull Europe’s largest economy out of stagnation.

Chancellor Olaf Scholz told reporters, following a meeting with ministers, that the government will introduce tax relief for businesses and provide incentives for climate friendly investments.

“It is very important that in this situation, our government is launching an offensive to stimulate growth for our country and ensure that companies will be able to make their decisions, and will not postpone them, with regards to investments and growth opportunities,” he said.

Scholz also promised that the government will speed up the work on reducing bureaucracy, improving conditions for start-ups, providing more financial support for innovative projects, and facilitating the recruitment of highly skilled workers from abroad.

Scholz and Cabinet ministers are holding a two-day closed meeting at Meseberg Castle, near Berlin, to discuss economic situation, and divisive issues such as tax relief and subsidized electricity price for certain industries.
