Germany unveils ‘feminist foreign policy’ blueprint
Foreign Minister Baerbock wants to strengthen rights of women and girls worldwide, promote gender-sensitive solutions
BERLIN (AA) - Germany’s Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock unveiled a blueprint for “feminist foreign policy” on Wednesday, pledging stronger efforts to strengthen rights of women and girls worldwide.
Speaking to reporters after the Cabinet meeting, Baerbock said her ministry has completed the work on the guidelines for Germany’s feminist foreign policy.
“The feminist foreign policy will cover all areas of our political activity,” she said, adding that they will promote gender-sensitive solutions in all areas, from peace missions to humanitarian assistance.
“The feminist foreign policy will pursue a pragmatic approach. Our aim is to tackle the concrete problems of ordinary people,” she said.
“Women make up half the world's population, challenges and problems faced by them must be taken into account. This is about real people, real problems,” she added.
