Food prices rise, energy costs decline, keeping inflation unchanged

ISTANBUL (AA) - Germany’s annual inflation rate remained at 2.3% in February, unchanged from January, the federal statistical authority Destatis announced on Friday.

Higher food prices and above-average increases in services continued to drive inflation, while declining energy costs helped offset upward pressure, the agency said.

Energy prices in February 2025 were 1.6% lower compared to the same month last year, easing overall inflationary pressures.

Meanwhile, food prices increased by 2.4% year-on-year, contributing to overall price growth.

Excluding food and energy, core inflation stood at 2.7% in February.

On a monthly basis, consumer prices in Germany rose by 0.4% compared to January.
