Germany's industrial production down in December

ISTANBUL (AA) - Germany's industrial production posted a decline in December 2021 by 0.3% versus the previous month, the country’s statistical authority said on Monday.

"Compared with December 2020, the decrease in calendar-adjusted production in industry amounted to 4.1%," Destatis said in a press release.

Meanwhile, the production during the whole year saw an increase of 3% compared to 2020, but it was 5.5% lower than the pre-pandemic level.

"Compared with February 2020, the month before restrictions were imposed due to the corona pandemic in Germany, production in December 2021 was 6.9% lower in seasonally and calendar-adjusted terms," it added.

In December, industrial production, excluding energy and construction, increased by 1.2% on a monthly basis.

The production of capital goods was up by 2.5%, and intermediate goods rose by 0.6% month-on-month in December, while consumer goods' production saw a decline of 0.5%, energy production was down by 0.7%, and construction by 7.3%.
