ANKARA (AA) - Germany's industrial production slipped 4% month-on-month in August due to supply shortages, the country's statistics authority revealed on Thursday.
The industrial output of the Europe's biggest economy rose 1.7% from a year earlier in calendar-adjusted terms, Destatis said in a statement.
August's seasonally and calendar adjusted figure was 9% lower compared to February 2020, before coronavirus related restrictions were imposed in Germany, it highlighted.
Production in industry excluding energy and construction decreased 4.7% from a month ago in August with "producers continue to report about the production being constrained by a shortage of supply of intermediate products," it said.
The vehicle manufacture posted a sharp decline of 17.5% in August from July, while the manufacture of machinery and equipment was down 6.3% on a month earlier.
“In July 2021, the corrected figure on the production in industry showed an increase of 1.3% (provisional: +1.0%) from June 2021,” Destatis added.
