Germany's unemployment at 2.9% in December

ISTANBUL (AA) - The unemployment rate in Germany was 2.9% in December 2023, unchanged from the same period in 2022, the country's statistical office Destatis revealed on Wednesday.

The number of unemployed people was at 1.3 million, increasing by 13,000 or 1% year-on-year in December.

Destatis stated: "Roughly 46.0 million persons resident in Germany were in employment in December 2023."

Month on month, the number of persons in employment increased by 24,000 in November 2023, and 13,000 in October 2023, it added.
