This year's global climate strike to be held Sept. 24

ANKARA (AA) - Strikes, demonstrations and protests for the environment continued across the globe in June, with protesters demanding more decisive action to tackle climate change.
Activists and citizens continued online campaigns and street protests while keeping socially distant due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Events included the Fridays for Future protests launched in 2018 by Swedish environmental activist Greta Thunberg and campaigns worldwide against anti-environmental practices and attitudes, including #StopCambo campaigns and several virtual climate strikes.
Below is a timeline of protests and demonstrations compiled by Anadolu Agency:
July 2:
- On the first Fridays for Future strike of the month, climate activists and environmental protesters continue to raise awareness about climate change in efforts supported and retweeted by nonprofits.
- This year's global climate strike to be held on Sept. 24, announced by Fridays for Future said: "We will strike to demand intersectional climate justice! Our fight must be a fight for the present and the future, alongside the most impacted sectors of society. Join us!"
July 6:
- Activists from Youth For Climate Nantes gather in Nantes, France to protest banks for "devastating and deadly investments" that harm nature.
July 9:
- On the second Fridays for Future strike of July, climate activists and environmental protesters continue to raise awareness about climate change and environmental issues.
- A group of protesters gather in Munich, Germany; hold rally by carrying a banner, reads: "Climate justice now"
July 13:
- Young climate and environmental activists gather in front of UN headquarters in New York amid the High-Level Political Forum 202, to demand "those in power must stop the same"
July 15:
- Climate activists and organizations call for more ambitious policies against climate change after unprecedented flooding in Germany kills more than 150 people
July 16:
- Fridays for Future holds third strike of the month with climate activists and environmental protesters raising awareness about climate change and environmental issues.
- British activists hold social media campaigns calling the UK government to stop the Cambo project, a massive new oil field, through "#StopCambo" on Twitter.
July 19:
- 12 activists "occupy" the UK government building in Edinburg by staging a sit-in calling on officials to end the Cambo oil field project.
July 23:
- Fridays for Future holds fourth strike of July with climate activists and environmental protesters raising awareness about climate change and environmental issues.
- On his 54th week of a school strike, 13-year-old Indian climate activist Aarav Seth mentions floods, droughts, hurricanes around the world. "We don't deserve this kind of present & future," he said on Twitter.
July 27:
- "Climate crisis is pushing Africa's indigenous people in Kenya to extinction," Fridays for Future Uganda said on Twitter, adding that those people rely on Lake Turkana for food but the lake shrank in the past few years due to climate crisis.
July 30:
- On the last Fridays for Future strike of July, climate and environmental activists continue protesting for action on climate change and the environment, demanding more action from world leaders.
Environmental protesters mark Earth Overshoot Day by pointing out "ecological deficit" and carbon emissions to the atmosphere.
