Climate activists, concerned citizens take part in global strike on March 25 across world with theme of 'PeopleNotProfit'

ANKARA (AA) - Protests and strikes against environmental degradation continued across the globe in March, with demonstrators demanding decisive action to tackle climate change.
Activists and netizens continued online campaigns and street protests, while keeping socially distant due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
The events included Fridays for Future's weekly protests, as well as protests against oil companies and mining projects.
Below is a timeline of protests and demonstrations compiled by Anadolu Agency:
March 1:
- "Fossil fuels are the reason for many recent wars – wars for resources we no longer need," said Ukrainian members of Fridays for Future, calling on climate activists around the globe to show solidarity with Ukraine against Russia by holding global rallies.
March 2:
- Citing a new Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report, climate activists on social media urge politicians worldwide to take needed action.
March 3:
- Activists from climate and environmental groups, including Greenpeace and Fridays for Future, stage protests in more than 60 cities around the world.
- Concerned people also hold "digital strike" with the themes of "#NoMoreWars," "#StandWithUkraine," arguing: "Fossil fuel era, capitalism, and imperialism allows these systemic oppressions."
March 4:
- During the first Fridays for Future strike of the month, climate activists and environmental protesters continue to raise awareness of climate change, with nonprofit groups supporting their efforts.
- Along with green issues, for the strike day week of the month, thousands of activists around the world hold huge rallies to show solidarity with Ukraine.
March 5:
- Women’s rights groups in Bangladesh hold large rally ahead of Women's Day, stressing need for steps in climate policy as well as gender equality.
March 11:
- On the second Fridays for Future strike of March, climate activists and environmental protesters continue to raise awareness of climate change and environmental issues.
- On his 19th week of climate strike, Nigerian climate and environmental activist Ibraheem Mohammed shares a photo on Twitter urging a stop to "war crimes" in Ukraine.
March 12:
- Amid France’s presidential campaign, thousands of environmentalists gather on the streets of Paris to draw attention to climate change and social injustice.
March 18:
- Fridays for Future holds third strike of the month, with climate activists and environmental protesters raising awareness of climate change and environmental issues.
- Climate activists in Finland stage protest outside parliament in the capital Helsinki to pressure decision-makers on devastating effects of climate change.
March 24:
- Greenpeace environmental activists visit Downing Street to deliver petitions signed by over half a million people from the UK and Turkiye saying: “Stop exporting the UK’s plastic waste.”
March 25:
- Climate and environmental groups worldwide as well as concerned citizens and activists take part in this year's global climate strike with the theme of #PeopleNotProfit.
- Ahead of G20 meeting, a group of activists in the Indonesian capital Jakarta hold protest calling on politicians to take more steps against climate change.
March 26:
- This year's Earth Hour, defined as "people's commitment to the planet," is marked around the world by individuals, communities, businesses, and organizations to raise awareness of the environment and stress the importance of action.
March 30:
