Global steel output edges up 0.6% in October

Global crude steel output ticked up 0.6% from a year ago to 150 million tons in October, according to World Steel Association (worldsteel) data released on Wednesday.

China, the world's number one steel producer, saw a 1.8% annual decline in October's reading of 79.1 million tons.

India's steel production surged 15.1% to 12.1 million tons last month, while Japan's steel output rose 2.6% to 7.5 million tons.

Russia is estimated to have produced 6.3 million tons this October, up 9.5% from the prior year.

Türkiye, the world's seventh-largest crude steel producer, saw a 4.2% year-on-year rise in crude steel production to 3 million tons in October.

In January-October, world crude steel output reached 1.57 billion tons, a slight annual climb of 0.2% from last year.
