ISTANBUL (AA) - Global crude steel output rose slightly by 6.6% year-on-year in November, according to the World Steel Association (worldsteel).
"World crude steel production for the 64 countries reporting to the worldsteel was 158.3 million tonnes in November 2020," the association said late Tuesday.
China produced 87.7million tons of crude steel this November, up 8% from the same month last year.
While India posted an increase by 3.5% to 9.2 million tons, Japan saw a decline of 5.9% to 7.3 million tons, year-on-year in November.
The figure was 6.1 million tons in the US, a drop of 13.7% from November 2019.
On the EU side, Germany produced 3.4 million tons of crude steel, up 14.8% on an annual basis.
Turkey saw a 11.6% rise to 3.2 million tons in crude steel production during the same period.
The World Steel Association is a prominent industry group, with its members representing around 85% of global steel production with more than 160 steel producers.
The group stressed that due to ongoing difficulties presented by the COVID-19 pandemic, many November figures are estimates that may be revised with next month’s production update.
